Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1900 … studied at John Herron Art Institute on a scholarship, Fontainbleu, France under Gaston Galande, Andre Strauss, and Jean Despujols … also studied under Emile Gruppe in Glouchester, Massachusetts and Wayman Adams in Elisabethtown, New York ... painted in most of the mainland states as well as Canada, Mexico and Cuba … member of the Hoosier Gallery Association, Fontainbleu Alumnus Association, Indiana Artists Club and was a former manager of the Circle Engraving Company which did some of the engravings for the Cross Keys ... exhibited at the Palace of Fontainbleu, France, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, John Herron Art Institute , Cincinnati Art Museum, Dayton and Louisville as well as Fort Wayne Art Institute…won numerous prizes at Hoosier Salon ... his unexpected death in 1959 was a great loss to Indiana Art. |
