Description |
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849 ). " Mt. Fuji Vieved Through Waves Off the Coast Of Kanagawa " from " 36 Views of Mt. Fuji" Surging waves seem to engulf the boat and Mt. Fuji alike. Enormus force is felt from this picture which is one the greatest masterpieces of Ukiyo-e lanscape print. Hokusai studied Dutch compositional methods for himself, and made use of it here. As the keynote of color he used a blue chemical pigment called berorin ( prussian blue ) which was imported for the first time in the 19th century. This print was published around 1832. ---- Tokyo National Museum. Tagged with access number. |
