Purchased by Tri-Kappa from the Hoosier Salon in 1959. A blue-grey day is pictured in "Colorado's Late October". Mrs. Jones, the artist, perhaps was influenced by her blue-Monday morning. Anna Mae (Buck) Jones (Mrs. Harold S.) was born in Kempton, Ind. On Dec. 16, 1915 and moved to Indianapolis six months later. She studied art at Shortridge High School for four years and won a Saturday Scholarship at John Herron Institute for one winter. Mrs. Jones was a member of Indianapolis Art League and has studied with many excellent instructors. She had been exhibiting professionally since 1959 and has her works in many collections, including Tri Kappa's and Indiana Memorial Union '68. She has won many prizes in competitions; at Hoosier Salon, Indiana Artists Club, Indiana State Fair and others throughout the Midwest. In 1969, her work was written up in the French magazines "La Revue Moderne des Arts et de la Vie". Mrs. Jones and her dentist husband lived in Indianapolis. They had two sons. She had been worked in oils, polymers, prints, and casein, as well as watercolors." |
